Spanish Fun in the Sun

Half days with an optional full day experience

Campers will have the option to transition from a mornings at Spanish Fun in the Sun camp (9am-12pm) to afternoons at  SMiLeS Camp (12-3:30pm)SMILeS is a camp offered by St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School in Oakville.

Spanish Fun in the Sun is a Spanish language summer camp and the perfect option for kids interested in grasping or brushing up their Spanish in a friendly and safe environment.

We promote Spanish language acquisition by combining essential curriculum-based content with music, games and great stories with a unique Hispanic touch.We invite you to enroll your kids in our highly interactive Spanish Summer Camps that include weekly unique themes from the Hispanic world.

A New World – Campers will recreate their curiosity, creativity and adventure senses.  This camp promotes multicultural awareness, Hispanic culture and the differences among the countries with the same common denominator: their language. Through dramatic play they will be ”traveling” and learning why these countries are so special. And as they become “explorers” they will have a direct experience.

Art with Frida – Her image is reproduced everywhere on posters, postcards, photographs, puzzles, books and magazines. But, do you know why Frida Kahlo highlights in the history of the Mexican art of the twentieth century?
Well, in this camp your children will learn about how Frida Khalo developed her vocation for painting, and we will walk them through the observation of some of her paintings so  they can appreciate them better.Also, children will learn a little about her life, her personality and her world.

Loteria – Bingo – Campers will have so much fun playing the traditional and modern versions of “La Loteria”-Bingo while they acquire rivers of Spanish vocabulary . “La Loteria” is an old game played throughout Mexico. Even though it is rapidly being replaced by electronic games, it is still  played at festivals and fairs.

Travel in Time – The life of the biggest icons of Hispanic culture written by the best children’s literature authors in today’s Hispanic world! Offer students the opportunity to travel in time and get to know firsthand some of the most influential Hispanic historical figures through these delightful readers. For example: Pablo Neruda, Simon Bolivar, Jose de San Martin, Gabriela Mistral, Miguel de Cervantes. ALL titles teach authentic culture, history, and geography of the Hispanic world.

The Wonderful Jungle – Campers will explore the wonderful world of animals through five-day adventures and Spanish learning through games such as the ABC’s of Animals, some animal behaviors, comparing flying and land animals, furry friends, animal habitats.
